MACALESTER WINS!
2009 UMD SPRING TURF CLASSIC
MACALASTER 2 MAJIKS 0
The young, upstart team from Macalster College of St. Paul, MN efficiently swept through their competition with timely goals and hard work. Participating in their first Spring Turf Classic, Macalster deftly worked its way through the field. Outscoring their first round opponents 24-3, Macalester's semifinal match faced them against a tough College of St. Scholastica (CSS) team. Much to the disbelief of CSS, they found themselves down 3-0 at the half. CSS, despite many goal scoring chances, could not get on the board.
The championship match pitted Macalaster against Majiks, a deep and skilled team from Minneapolis, MN. Again, the boys from Macalester capitalized on their opportunities while at the same time frustrating their opponent with stout defense, hard work, and solid goalkeeping. The final tally tipped in Mac's favor, 2-0 and giving them the championship they earned.
