DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONSHIP
#1 NORTH SHORE STEEL (4)
vs
#2 PORT CITY (2)
A North Shore Steel comeback! Down 2-1, with 20 minutes remaining in the second half, North Shore Steel offered three unanswered goals, jettisoning the team to the win and the Division 2 title. Constant pressure seemed to be the motto for North Shore Steel during the second half. With sixteen minutes to play in the game, an over-zealous challenge in the box by a Port City defender awarded North Shore Steel the penalty. The subsequent kick from the mark was converted confidently, tieing the game. Minutes later , still applying pressure to Port City's back line, North Shore Steel capatilized on a cornerkick to take the lead, seemingly deflating Port City's quest and resolve. The back-breaker was turned in with six minutes remaining in the game giving North Shore Steel a well deserved championship.
DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP
GITCHI GUMMI SC
TAKES
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FROM SANSIO-STARS
3-2
Starting the second half tied at zeros, the Stars struck first with a well-placed header off a long throw-in. They duplicated the feat moments later to take a 2-0 lead with 22 minutes left in the game. Gitchi Gummi later was awarded a questionable handball in the penalty box. The subsequent penalty kick closed the score to 2-1. With 10 minutes remaining, Gitchi gained the Stars zone and from an off angle, a blistering shot by a Gitch midfielder ricocheted off a defender and hit the back of the net to square things up. With time running out, Gitchi squeezed an odd man rush up the left side. A well-timed crossing ball to the oncoming attacker was deftly pushed by the goalie for the go ahead and eventual game winner.
